Why you and I both need a Trainer

Courtney Ley

Do you need a trainer?

This was the question I was faced not long ago.

Some of you may know I met my husband Matt at the gym over 3 years ago. He was my trainer and I got amazing results when he was training me. Once we moved in together… things changed. We continued to work out together; however, I was really in charge of my own workouts and programs.

After working out for so long I was sure I knew everything and could do it myself!

Things had been going well; however, I just couldn’t seem to make enough progress.

Why?

I was trying to figure that out!

Recently, Matt had my answer…

Unknowingly I wasn’t pushing myself in my workouts as hard as I should or could.

Now this may sound strange…a Trainer not pushing herself, when she can push her clients to achieve great things.

But it’s not intentional!

‘Sandbagging’ is the term Matt likes to use; thinking you’re pushing yourself hard but really if someone else was telling you to do it, or if your life depended on it, you would have a little more in the tank.

At first I thought, you have got to be kidding me! I work my ass off in the gym! – I was a little ticked off by the comment!

But then I calmed down and thought about it.

I hate to say it, but he was right!

I didn’t realise it but when he took me through my training session I did push harder, even more than I thought was possible.

Well that was all I needed, and the decision was made. There will now be 2 Matt’s – one is my amazing husband, and the other is my trainer who will expect nothing but the best from me!

I wanted to tell you all this story because I’m sure I’m not alone here.

You may think you eat healthy.

You may think your workouts are the hardest.

But if you’re not getting the results you want – maybe you aren't eating as "healthy" as you think. Maybe you aren't training HARD...much like myself!

It’s time to look for a Trainer!

It’s time to get your goals back on track and push harder than ever to achieve them – and the right Trainer can help you do just that :)
