Who inspires you?

Courtney Ley

Ladies, I have an open question for all of you – who are your heroes?

Who inspires you?

Who do you look up to?

As most of you would know by now I work in the fitness industry.

The weight loss industry.

So you’d probably expect my inspirations to be women fitter than me, stronger than me, more “glamorous” than me, right?

Those picture perfect girls on Instagram with 50k+ followers, right??

Wrong!

I don’t look up to these cookie-cutter fitness icons and self-made internet celebrities whatsoever. I never have and I never will.

I’ll tell you who my heroes are –

My heroes are the “everyday” women. The “regular” women who are busting their butts day in and day out to be the best version of themselves possible.

Women who are time poor yet make the time for themselves even if it’s only a few hours a week.

Women who are battling anxiety and depression yet get up every day to face the world and improve themselves.

Women who are afraid of failure yet keep pushing on because they know failing is giving up.

Women who want to be the best role models they can be for their friends and family.

Women who hit the gym for their workout after a tough day even though all they want to do is go home, relax and unwind.

My heroes are women I can relate to.

I can’t relate to these women getting around with their flawless faces, perfectly symmetrical bodies and high-rolling lifestyle. I can’t and quite frankly I don’t want to.

So to every woman reading this blog who is getting it done despite being busy, despite being afraid, despite being so self-conscious sometimes they feel sick, despite some days just wanting to say it’s all too hard and give up…

…those women who despite a lifetime of struggle and tears keep turning up when it counts, I’ve got one thing I want to say –

Thank you.

Thank you for inspiring me on those days where my motivation is nowhere.

Thank you for making me push myself when all I want to do is crawl back into bed.

Thank you for making me want to be the best version of myself.

You’ll never know just how much of an effect you’ve had on me inside, but I hope this gives you some idea.

While you’re looking in the mirror pointing out your flaws to yourself, telling yourself that you’re not good enough and you’re going to fail, please try to remember that there are some people out there who you inspire on a daily basis.

I’m one of them

Until next time :)
