When's the perfect time to start losing weight?

Courtney Ley

Can I please get a show of hands – who out there has had a smooth, comfortable journey so far?

Yeah…didn’t think so.

I haven’t been a trainer for very long now, I’m still relatively new to this and I’ve already lost count of the amount of times I’ve heard or read women that will “Get into it once *INSERT HERE* is sorted” or “I’ll get started when the time is right”

I’ve even heard “I want to get everything right, so I’ll start once I know I can do that”.

Bad news girls – use those lines only if you’re prepared to stay exactly the same forever.

There’s no such thing as “the right time”

There’s no such thing as “getting everything right”

Sure as the sun will come up tomorrow and you will be paying your taxes – there ain’t no such thing as a smooth ride or perfect conditions for change.

I can guarantee you this – no matter how hard you try, no matter how long you wait…there will be challenges along the way. Some small, some great.

Some caused by others, some caused by yourself.

Without doubt you will not get everything right. Not at the start, and probably not ever.

You’re going to have stress – at work and at home

You’re going to be busy – at work and at home

You will NOT be perfect. You will NOT get everything right and you WILL make mistakes.

I’ve lost count of the amount of things that have gone wrong during my journey, of the mistakes that I’ve made, of my “failures”.

Things that in the past would have been convenient excuses to stop.

Some advice for the women out there waiting for the “right time” –

It ain’t ever gonna happen, but as you changed your mind and your body, you won’t become immune to stress, you won’t stop making mistakes and you certainly won’t be perfect.

What WILL happen is that you’ll become better at dealing with life’s obstacles, and accept them for what they are – part of the journey and not something that can stop you from getting what you want.

You’re the only one who can do that. You always have been.
